The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for today all across the region, but for Quartzsite residents, the risks are severe.
A storm-caused power outage is affecting APS customers in the town of Quartzsite, AZ, where the temperatures are expected to go above 113˚F without the possibility of air conditioning. APS spokeswoman Andrea Bereznak tells Parker Live that the entire town is currently without power, due to two power lines which came down between Black Pete Substation and the town of Quartzsite. She estimated that restoration of power may not occur before 4 p.m.
Residents are urged to find a cool place to be today. Dry ice will be distributed at Shell gas station from around 11 a.m. (approx.) at the intersection of West Main and North Boulevard.
The lights are back on. Thank you APS
It was very hot, but we made it through.
