We have learned that CRIT Fish & Game will be enforcing the ORV (Off Road Vehicle) sticker requirement on the reservation during the new BlueWater Desert Challenge race next week, despite a request to CRIT from Best in the Desert Racing Association to have the fees waived for the event.
Best In The Desert posted the following on its website:
Please know that Best In The Desert did everything we could to get this fee waived for Best In The Desert events. We did write a special letter to the council and ask for a revision to the bylaws to waive the fee but we were turned down. We are very sorry to have to request one more fee from you but this is now out of our control, there is nothing more we can do. This is not BlueWater Resort & Casino land, this is not the City of Parker land/LaPaz county land requesting this fee. Again, there is no use calling our office, there is nothing more we can do. Don’t pay the OHV/ORV fee in advance, wait for them to find you.
The plans for the BlueWater Desert Challenge are moving forward. We are gearing up for a really exciting two-day race!
The ORV sticker can be obtained from CRIT Fish & Game, at 1200 Mutahar, Parker, AZ 928 669-9285. From the Chamber of Commerce head south on 95/California Ave, turn left on Mohave Rd (before Bradley Chevrolet) and right on Mutahar. Building is on the right. The sticker costs $25 and is renewable each calendar year.
In addition, CRIT Fish & Game will be enforcing the camping fee of $15 per 24 hour period. If you register to stay on the reservation more than 2 nights, you may purchase a camping pass for the entire event for $40.
We have been told that CRIT Fish & Game will have EZ-Up stations on site before and during the race to allow people to easily obtain the permits.
CRIT Fish & Game can be contacted by calling (928) 669-9285.
