Yard fire affects broadband

A fire in a Parker backyard was contained by fire crews at lunchtime today without spreading. NPG Cable broadband internet service is still down. Some speculated that the fire had burned down an overhead cable line. The outage affects at least Parker Town and the Parker Strip.

UPDATE: A crew member at NPG says the fire burned through the company’s main fiber-optic trunk line, making the job of reconnecting service lengthier than it would have been otherwise. He estimates 4 hours for the restoration of service. (Around 8pm.)

UPDATE 7:13pm: Internet service restored.
