Long-time boat racer Dave Sammonds was airlifted from the river to hospital in Phoenix yesterday after a one-man boat accident left him with injuries requiring surgery.
The accident happened around lunchtime Thursday while Sammonds was testing a boat along a stretch of the Colorado River north of Parker near the Keys. He reportedly suffered a broken femur, broken ribs, laceration to his back and a punctured lung.
He is currently recovering in hospital with the aid of a breathing machine as his lung heals. These photographs of the incident were taken by Joe Sena.
