County to discuss funds custody

A public meeting of the La Paz County Board of Supervisors has been scheduled to discuss the County Treasurer’s routine custody of Special District and School District funds.

The meeting comes a few weeks after the funds became entangled in the legal proceedings of the ongoing Yakima case, causing many to notice for the first time the current practice of using the County’s main accounts for funds belonging to fire departments, sewer districts and school districts. Some now wish to change this practice to avoid the recurrence of any such problems in the future.

The meeting will be held March 7th at 1:30 p.m.
