La Paz Health wins award for immunizations

La Paz County Health Department was the recipient of its fourth Daniel T. Cloud Outstanding Practice Award for immunizations at the annual Arizona Partnership for Immunizations (TAPI) awards ceremony in Phoenix on April 27th.

Since its inception in 2000, The Arizona Partnership for Immunizations (TAPI) has recognized exceptional efforts of individuals, community groups, and organizations that have made a difference in immunization coverage levels within the last year (2010). This can be done through the development of new ideas and/or policies that lead to increased rates, or by meeting certain targeted goals.

The Daniel T. Cloud Award is for any organization or practice that has reached a 90% or higher coverage level for children that are fully immunized before the age two. Assessments are conducted twice yearly (March and September) to determine the current immunization status in each county. The March assessment reached the 90% goal. La Paz County is the only county health department in Arizona to date that has received this award.

“We are proud of our nurses and staff,” said Diana Grazier, La Paz County Director of Nursing, “but we couldn’t do it without the tremendous support we get from the schools or the diligent effort on the part of the parents/guardians of these children.”

Children’s immunizations are free. The current schedule is:

• Parker: LPCHD, 1112 Joshua Ave, every Tuesday from 8 -11:30 AM and 1 – 4 PM.
• Ehrenberg: Ehrenberg Fire Dept, 1st Wednesday of the month, 9:30 – 11:30 AM.
• Quartzsite: Quartzsite Fire Dept, 1st Wednesday day of the month, 1:00 – 3:00 PM.
