4-H food drive continues this Halloween

During the Halloween season, La Paz County 4-H will continue its annual “Trick or Treat so Others Can Eat” food drive tradition. The program will run for the week of October 16-23rd throughout the county. The Town of Parker door-to-door collection will be on Thursday, October 20th from 4:30 until 6:30 pm. 4-H youth will be collecting non-perishable food items and will be wearing a name badge to identify themselves as a 4-H member. The Quartzsite 4-H Club will be placing donation bins throughout the town of Quartzsite. Almost 2,000 pounds of food was collected last year and given to local food banks.

For more information about the food drive, contact the Extension Office at 669-9843. 4-H members, leaders, and parents in the Parker area will gather at Pop Harvey Park at 4:30 pm to receive their name badges and be assigned an area to go collecting. Food will be returned to Players’ 9th Street Youth Center so it can be officially weighed and categorized. Parker area residents are welcome to drop canned food off at the University of Arizona Extension office at any time during the week.
