This is a video composite of the entire sky as seen last night from Parker, AZ.
Each event is captured by the New Mexico State University Sky Sentinel All Sky Camera and uploaded automatically. The composite shows the moon, planets, stars, meteors, and air traffic over the course of a single night, and includes the Perseid meteor shower, which will continue until August 24th.
The NMSU project aims to cover the sky from hundreds of locations across the country, which the project website says is “necessary for calibration of our nation’s nuclear detection satellites to separate natural and man-made events.”
