The Governing Board of Parker Unified School District has established June 12th, 2013 for the annual official meeting at which public comment will be taken regarding programs funded with Impact Aid. An agenda item will be included to provide Tribal Officials and parents of students residing of Indian Land an opportunity to make suggestions regarding the use of Impact Aid funds. The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will be held in the Parker High School Media Center.
The federal government issues Impact Aid to districts that have their tax bases reduced by a federal presence. The presence of Military Bases and Indian Reservations are the most common examples. Parker Unified School District has over 50% of our students living on Trust Land of the Colorado River Indian Tribes. The federal government provides over $5,000,000 per year in Impact Aid in support of the district’s general budget.
Taxpayers provide the remainder of the district’s general budget support through $6,000,000 in Arizona State Aid and approximately $930,000 in secondary property taxes.
