Solar-powered cars race through Parker Monday

Around 14 cars taking part in the 2013 Solar Car Challenge pass through Parker Monday on the 7th day of the race.

The solar-powered vehicles are built by students of science, engineering and alternative energy. The route spans from Texas Motor Speedway near Fort Worth, TX to Los Angeles, CA. More than 65 schools in 20 states now take part in the Solar Car Challenge, according to the nonprofit’s website.

The race will finish tomorrow at Exposition Park in LA. Monday’s leg of the route is almost 194 miles long.
