The public library in Parker, AZ is offering a way to avoid the fines while helping the poor at the same time.
With ‘Food for Fines’, Parker Public Library will accept canned goods and other non-perishable foods instead of cash during the months of November and December, saying, “Hunger never takes a holiday! Please lend a helping hand to your neighbors.” The foods will be given to St. Vincent de Paul in Parker and used to feed people who need it.
Food for Fines might make this the perfect time to look for misplaced library books, movies or audios and return them with some food for St. Vincent de Paul. The Library says there are a large number of books that have not been returned, so it will be passing the details along to Valley Collections for recovery in January 2014.
Library hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and the phone number is (928) 669-2622.
