La Paz County School Superintendent Janice Shelton has accepted the resignation of a member of the Parker Unified School District Governing Board. Margaret Dewey has resigned, meaning there is now a vacancy to be filled.
It is the County School Superintendent’s responsibility to fill a vacant governing board position by either appointment or by a special election. Mrs. Shelton says she has determined that an appointment will best meet the needs of the community and school district. The term will begin upon appointment and will continue through December 31st, 2014. The position will appear on the general election ballot in November, 2014 as a two year term position.
To qualify as a governing board member, the applicant must have been a resident of the Parker Unified School District for at least one year prior to the appointment and must be a registered voter in the State of Arizona. Please note that according to state statute, no employee of a school district or their spouse may hold membership on a governing board of a school district by which they are employed.
Interested citizens are asked to complete a Governing Board Application which is available at the Parker Unified School District Office, La Paz County Education Service Agency (ESA) Office, and on the website lapazschools.org.
