Local man dies in County custody

A local man was found deceased in his cell at the La Paz County Detention Facility in Parker last week.

On December 23rd 2013, at approximately 2:45 pm, Jesse Ray Flores of Parker was found by jail staff doing a routine check. Flores was arrested back on July 27th for Aggravated Assault and had just returned from Superior Court where he entered a “change of plea”. Flores was housed by himself in his cell and was found to be unresponsive.

A press release by La Paz County Sheriff’s Office says the detention staff and emergency services attempted life saving measures which were unsuccessful, and Flores was pronounced as “deceased” on scene. Specific information regarding his death was not released, with the Sheriff’s Office citing an active investigation by their Investigative Unit.

Jesse Flores funeral viewing will be on January 2nd at the Parker Apostolic Church from 6pm to 8pm. The burial will be held January 3rd starting at the Parker Apostolic Church at 10am followed by burial at 11am.
