The Arizona Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin a project to remove large rocks alongside Interstate 10 between Ehrenberg and Quartzsite next week.
Starting Monday, March 24th, I-10 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction between mileposts 10 and 11 for the next three weeks.
In addition to the lane restrictions:
Westbound I-10 will be closed up to 20 minutes on Wednesday, March 26 between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. for blasting and rock removal. Eastbound I-10 will be closed up to 20 minutes on April 4 between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. for blasting and rock removal.
If necessary, the procedure will be repeated several times each night.
Message boards will be in place to inform motorists of lane restrictions and speed reductions. Law enforcement will be in place to monitor traffic and enforce speed limit. Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time through the area.
