Former Miss La Paz County Alyson Tozer gave a speech to teenage girls Wednesday morning after a stint in hospital in Phoenix.
Alyson received a double lung transplant in 2013 after complications of cystic fibrosis, from which she has suffered from birth. She made an incredible recovery and has been celebrating a new lease on life.
Then, at the beginning of April, Alyson was taken to hospital in Phoenix with symptoms of rejection, where the body’s immunological response is activated in rejection of the new organs. She underwent a process called plasmapheresis twice, was on some potent medication, and had a minor surgery. Her condition was evaluated by her transplant team and treatment took some weeks.
Wednesday morning, Alyson was speaking to teen girls at the Strong Girls Workshop, a day-long conference aimed at inspiring girls to be strong, smart and bold.
