The District Governing Board of Arizona Western College has unanimously approved Dr. Daniel Corr as the 9th President of AWC after a five-month process to search and approved a new president.
Dr. Corr will come to AWC from Scottsdale Community College, where he currently serves as the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs, a position he’s held since 2007. According to a press release by the college, in his role at SCC, Corr “has placed an emphasis on developing partnerships and service learning opportunities.” The release continues: “Corr has also considered inclusiveness and diversity as cornerstones of his leadership at SCC, as well as innovative use of technology to advance student success measurements. A passionate advocate for community colleges, Corr held a variety of instructional and administrative positions at three different community colleges in Illinois prior to his tenure at SCC.”
Corr succeeds Dr. Glenn Mayle, who will retire after more than 35 years in higher education, including both his 6 years as President of AWC, and a time in the 1980s when he served in a variety of roles including faculty and Dean of Instruction.
I wonder, will he live in La Paz County?
Not likely, since the AWC main offices are in Yuma.
