There are 4 contestants vying for the title of Miss La Paz County this year, and 5 contestants competing for the title of Miss La Paz County’s Outstanding Teen.
For the first time ever, both pageants will be held on the same night at the same time at the La Paz County Fair, mirroring changes made in the Miss America Organization pageants around the state of Arizona. The pageant this year is on Friday, March 11th at 8:00 pm.
Contestants compete in private interview, swimsuit/fitness, talent, evening gown, and on-stage question. Miss Arizona Madi Esteves and Miss Arizona’s Outstanding Teen Jessi Gradillas will be present. Outgoing titleholders are Hailey Ferris, Miss La Paz County and Victoria Ferris, Miss La Paz County’s Outstanding Teen.
For Miss La Paz County: Yuliana Quezada is a senior at Parker High School. She is the 18 year old daughter of Samuel and Martha Quezada. Her platform is Changing the Public’s Perception of Law Enforcement. She will be doing a folk dance for her talent. Ashley Roberts is a senior at Parker High School and office assistant with the La Paz County CASA program. She is the 17 year old daughter of Floyd Roberts. Her platform is CASA: I am for the child. She will be doing a lyrical character dance for her talent. Fenix Greenwood is a sophomore at Arizona Western College and librarian at Blake Primary School. She is the 22 year old granddaughter of Buddy and Carmen Rapp and Jeff Brault. Her platform is Ready, Set, Read: The Importance of Early Childhood Literacy. She will be belly dancing for her talent. Allayzia Brault is a sophomore at Arizona Western College and teacher’s aide at Le Pera Elementary School. She is the 19 year old daughter of Jeff Brault and Carmen Rapp. Her platform is Literacy for Life; The Importance of Phonics and Balanced Literacy. She will be doing a character tap dance for her talent.
For Miss La Paz County’s Outstanding Teen: Guadalupe Lupita Balderrama is the 17 year old daughter of Julio and Celia Balderrama. She is a junior at Salome High School. Her platform is Faces of Adoption and she will be doing a folkloric dance for her talent. Cailya Brault is the 15 year old daughter of Jeff Brault and Carmen Rapp. She is a freshman at Parker High School. Her platform is Childhood Obesity and she will be going a cheer routine for her talent. Rosie Fredricksen is the 15 year old daugther of Deborah and Kurt Fredricksen. She is a freshman at Parker High School. Her platform is S.T.A.N.D. Students Taking A New Direction and she will be doing a jazz dance for her talent. Billie McCall is the 13 year old daughter of Bill and Jenni McCall. She is in the eighth grade at Thunderbolt Middle School in Lake Havasu. Her platform is Dare to Dream: The Importance of College Education and she will be doing a jazz dance for her talent. Celia Balderrama is the 13 year old daughter of Julio and Celia Baderrama. She is in the eighth grade at Wenden Elementary School. Her platform is Helping the Homeless and she will be doing a hip hop dance for her talent.
In addition to the two Miss America Scholarship pageants, the La Paz Youth Pageant will be held the night before, on Thursday, March 10th beginning at 6 p.m. The pageants are held in consecutive order for twenty-one contestants, from the youngest to the oldest, beginning with ‘tots’ and ending with teens up to 16 years old.
All pageants are part of the La Paz County Fair, March 13 – 13th 2016.
