Crash kills 22 year old local man

Julio Salcedo, 22 from Parker, AZ has been tragically killed in an auto accident on a stretch of AZ-72 in Parker South on Wednesday afternoon.

Julio was driving a white Jeep westbound toward Parker town, according to Parker Police Department Sergeant Michael Bailey, and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer coming the other direction. Julio died at the scene. The semi driver reportedly refused medical attention.

The highway was closed to traffic in both directions for at least a few hours as agencies responded to the scene and Parker P.D. with the assistance of the Arizona Department of Public Safety started an investigation.

“It’s very unfortunate,” Bailey added. “We want to remind people to take your time, slow down, especially in those curves out here in the road, you don’t know what’s coming around that corner, you can’t see and your sight distance is very limited.”

According to the owner of Crossroads Cafe in Parker, Lawny Reese-Caracci, Julio was a cook at the Parker restaurant.

“Julio was the proud father of two small adorable children that are left behind to be raised by their young mother,” she wrote on a GoFundMe page (link below). “Julio was also employed as a cook at Crossroads Cafe and was loved by many of his co-workers. He was a hard-working young man with a kind heart. This tragic news has shocked many.”

Lawny is collecting donations at the site to help the family with funeral costs and other needed expenses for his family.

  11. So sad that this has happened. Used to hang out with him a lot, not so much over the past year or two but I will definitely miss him. He was a good guy and I can’t imagine how his family feels. My family and I will be praying for his family.
