The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Colorado River Station Marine Enforcement Unit conducted it’s 2018 Fourth of July Weekend Operation in conjunction with Operation Dry Water, from June 29th through July 1st.
Operation Dry Water is a national year-round campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of boating under the influence. The operation was conducted along the Colorado River from the California/Nevada state line to the Riverside County line as well as Spring Valley Lake in Victor Valley.
The majority of the operation was focused on the waterways with resorts, launch ramps and marinas along the river and lake. A total of ten patrol vessels, an OHV team, and one Sheriff’s Department helicopter were deployed throughout the area.
There was a total of 10 arrests made by the department, all of which were for Boating Under the Influence. 45 citations were issued for various boating law violations along with 72 verbal warnings.
No major incidents were reported to Parker Live by law enforcement, including the La Paz County Sheriff’s Department on the Arizona side of the Parker Strip.
