Accident closes Highway 95 near Quartzsite turn-off

Includes corrections

A serious accident closed Highway 95 for a period of time at milepost 132 Wednesday afternoon, after a car collided with a motorcycle. Although originally reported on Nixle as fatal, the accident did not involve a fatality. Two people were airlifted to hospital in Phoenix.

No word yet on whether one or the other vehicle was trying to overtake on the 2-lane stretch of rural highway.

The road was closed at both directions after the crash, which happened sometime around 2:15 p.m., but has now re-opened. Many agencies were on-scene, including River Medical which was attending to parties involved, and Care Flight, which landed on the roadway to transport injured parties to hospital.

We saw this accident literally seconds after it occurred. So relieved to hear there were no fatalities as it clearly appeared there was at least one.
