A body was discovered in the 500 block of South California Avenue in Parker last week, according to the Colorado River Indian Tribes.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) was contacted to respond to the location at around 11:53 a.m. on Wednesday, August 19th. A BIA agent arrived an hour later. The body was removed and taken to Parker Funeral Home, then transported to Mohave County for an autopsy. The autopsy was conducted the following day at 9 a.m. It was determined that the individual was a female but she has not yet been identified.
BIA contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Friday last week and the two agencies are working in conjunction on the case, according to CRIT.
A woman was reported missing in the town of Parker the week before the body was found. Rosalie ‘Rosie’ Romero, a 45 year-old CRIT member, was last seen on the afternoon of August 10th at the laundromat near 16th Street and California Avenue. However, there is no word yet on whether the two cases are connected.
CRIT appealed for immediate information on the case in a press release, saying, “You can anonymously report information through the CRIT Police Department TIPS Line: (928) 669-5341. Reports can also be made to CRIT Investigator Charlie Solano at (928) 669-1277, FBI Phoenix at (623) 466-1999, or BIA Office of Justice Services at (602) 379-6958.”
The statement added:
“We encourage the Community to be vigilant of their surroundings, and should you see anything that is suspicious, immediately report it to local Law Enforcement. This is an ongoing investigation at this time and the CRIT Law Enforcement Department is limited on what information can be released.”
