Jason Prichard, a Sergeant at the Colorado River Indian Tribes Police Department, is in stable condition at a Phoenix area hospital after he was hit by a vehicle on Saturday on Highway 95 near Parker.
According to CRIT PD reports, Sergeant Prichard and deputies with the La Paz County Sheriffβs Office responded to a call of a person needing medical attention at milepost 147. After assisting that person, Prichard was standing off the roadway when he was struck by an out-of-control vehicle. The driver tried to flee but was quickly detained, according to CRIT.
Prichard suffered serious injuries and was flown to a Phoenix area hospital.
“The Tribal Councilβs thoughts and prayers are with Sergeant Prichard, his family, and co-workers, as they wish him a full and speedy recovery,” said a press release by CRIT. “The CRIT Police Department and the Tribal Council would also like to thank all the first responders who assisted, including the CRIT Fire Department, the La Paz County Sheriffβs Office, Arizona Department of Public Safety, the Mohave County Sheriffβs, the Goodyear Police Department, River Medical, and Care Flight.”
The incident remains under investigation.
