Man arrested for operating personal watercraft drunk

On Saturday at around 4:30 pm, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Colorado River Station Marine Enforcement deputies responded to a report of a boating collision on the Colorado River near the area of Emerald Cove.

A man named Robert Pena was allegedly operating a personal watercraft (PWC) northbound along the beach area of Emerald Cove when he collided with a moored vessel on the beach. Pena suffered no injuries during the collision.

Through investigation, it was determined Pena was operating the vessel while under the influence of alcohol during the time of the collision. Pena was in violation of Harbor and Navigations code 655(b); No person shall operate any vessel or manipulate water skis, an aquaplane, or a similar device while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, any drug, or under the combined influence of an alcoholic beverage and any drug. Pena was arrested on scene, issued a citation, and later released with a future court date.
