A shooting at Western Park in Parker on Monday night left a juvenile victim deceased at the scene, according to law enforcement. The apparent murder, committed after 10 pm right on the main thoroughfare through town, shocked the community.
On June 24th at approximately 10:16 pm, CRIT Police Department was contacted by La Paz County Central Dispatch to assist Parker Police Department to Desert Avenue and 9th Street, the rear area of Western Park, in reference to shots fired. Officers arrived on scene to find a male juvenile victim with apparent gunshot wounds located in his vehicle. He was pronounced deceased on scene.
Tonia Shelly Stone identified the victim as her 17 year-old son Anthony Logan.
“My heart is shattered,” she wrote in a Facebook post. “My 17 yr old. son Anthony Logan was shot and killed while he was sitting alone in his truck at Western Park. The person who did this ran off from the scene on foot and hasn’t been found yet.”
Officers from CRIT Police, Parker Police, and La Paz County Sheriff’s Department canvassing the area were able to find evidence that indicated the suspect in the shooting fled the scene on foot, agreeing with Stone’s post. A description of the suspect was given to all agencies on scene, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which investigates serious crimes committed on tribal lands.
A person of interest was taken into custody on unrelated charges pending investigation. It is not currently known whether the person is likely to be named a suspect in the case.
Agencies involved in the investigation include CRIT Police Department, Parker Police Department, the FBI, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Anybody with information regarding this case is urged to contact CRIT Police Department TIPS Line at 928-669-5341.
