Don Turley, 83, still missing, Silver Alert issued

Don Turley, an 83 year-old man whose family says has dementia, is still missing after 9 days. A Silver Alert has been issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Don is bald with hazel eyes, he is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 140 pounds. He was last seen on Tuesday, January 7th at around 8:54 am in the area of 1st Avenue and Mohave Road in Parker, possibly trying to hitchhike to Indiana.

“His family is asking for help to continue and extend the search effort,” says a GoFundMe post by Guy Turley. “Our dad, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend is loved by so many! Any help would be so much appreciated. Funds will be used for continued investigative services and search and rescue operations. We just want to find him.”

Vivian Hartless, who is Don’s brother-in-law, says law enforcement has not turned up any clues on Don’s whereabouts.

“Unfortunately there have been no further confirmed sightings on my brother-in-law,” she wrote on Facebook. “Would like to thank everyone for your prayers, for sharing this post, for passing out flyers and for continuing to look for him. So grateful for the love and support from family, friends and our community. Please continue to share and pray that we hear something soon.”

According to one report, he was spotted on surveillance camera in Bouse the day after he went missing, but this may be unconfirmed.

“Prior to going missing, he stated he wanted to go home to Griffith, Indiana to see his parents who have since passed, he may be hitchhiking,” an entry on the website Missing People in America says. “At the time, he was wearing an orange hoodie, jeans, walking shoes, transition glasses very dark. He only has about $25 dollars with him, if seen, call 911 and stay with him.”
