Salome male arrested for allegedly shooting girlfriend

A 20 year-old male was arrested and charged with misconduct with a weapon and aggravated assault Tuesday in Salome, AZ.

On October 25th at approximately 6pm, La Paz County Deputies responded to a residence in Salome in regards to a victim who had been shot. Upon their arrival, they made contact with a 19 year-old female and 20 year-old Felipe Lopez-Armenta. The female, who the Sheriff’s Department did not name, was suffering from a gunshot wound to her abdomen and lower back area.

Upon further investigation, deputies and investigators learned that Lopez-Armenta had allegedly approached his girlfriend from behind while she was doing laundry and shot her in the lower back area. Lopez-Armenta then loaded the female into a vehicle and transported her to a family member in the Salome area. The family immediately called 911 and the female was transported to a Phoenix area hospital.

Lopez-Armenta is currently being held at the La Paz County Detention Facility on $50,000 bond and is also being held for Immigrations and Customs Enforcement for suspicion of being an undocumented alien.
