Boating collision leaves San Diego County man dead

A San Diego County man is dead after a nighttime collision on his personal watercraft on the Parker Strip. He was not discovered until the morning after the incident is thought to have occurred.

On Monday morning at around 7 am, deputies with the San Bernardino County Colorado River Station responded to a report of a boating collision. Through witness statements it was determined that David Stuart Clark, 48 of Bonsall, an unincorporated community inland of Oceanside, had left a bar on the Parker Strip on his personal watercraft around 9 pm on Sunday night.

Clark did not return home and his family attempted to locate him on the water but were unsuccessful. Clark was located by a passing boater early the next morning on a rock formation, near Big Bend RV Resort. Deputies and Buckskin Fire department paramedics arrived and recovered the victim and vessel from the rock formation. Buckskin Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at approximately 7:30 am. The victim was turned over to the care of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Coroner Division.
