Sheriff confirms two fatalities from upriver crash

La Paz County Sheriff William Ponce has confirmed that two are dead following a single car crash in the upriver area north of Parker. Both were employees of Fox’s RV Resort restaurant and bar, according to the establishment.

At 11:23 pm on Friday, June 2nd, Sheriff’s deputies and Buckskin Fire Department personnel were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover accident on Riverside Drive at Mile Marker 5. The vehicle failed to negotiate a right-hand curve in the roadway and left the road traveling up an embankment and overturning. Both occupants appeared not to be wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle.

Kyle Womack and Danielle Gonzalez were both pronounced deceased at the scene, according to Ponce. Initial investigation shows speed appears to be a factor in the incident.

Both were employees of Fox’s RV Resort. According to anecdotal reports, unconfirmed by Parker Live, they had decided to take a customer’s new vehicle out for a late night drive.

“It saddens us to say we lost two very special and young members of our Foxy Bird family,” an account by the resort said on Facebook. “Please keep their families and loved ones in your prayers. Both have made a huge impact on all of us. You both will be greatly missed.”
