At today’s Board of Supervisors regular meeting, a presentation by a solar power company proposed saving the County money on power costs by applying for a Power Purchase Agreement.
The program would provide covered parking behind the County building which doubles as solar panels (among other installations on other County property). The power generated by the panels would be bought by the County at a fixed rate 10-15% below those of APS, saving an estimated $23,000 per year to the County. There would be no upfront costs involved, and the company would run the facility.
The Supervisors voted to approve the application, without further obligation to the County. The next stage is an application by the consultant who brought the presentation, and a feasibility study.
