This morning, KLPZ spoke to La Paz County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Alan Nelson about two separate nighttime boating incidents which occurred over the weekend. Watch here.
Michael Collins sent us these photographs of the incidents, one of which occurred at what is colloquially known as ‘Idiot Rock’, a small island just north of the old Sundance bar on the river.
This is such a shame. Hopefully these boaters were not drinking and driving. Even if you are stone sober, go wake speed, you cannot see what may be in the water going more than wake speed. You can still stay safe and have fun! Be smart. Thank you John and Lt. Nelson for all the information.
Three accidents in two weeks… C’mon people… IT IS COMMON SENSE…
I see more authorities moving in, FAST!!
Common sense is not so common these days!
I’ve lived here for 30 years, that river can get dark. It’s tricky even if you do know it. It would be great to see some kind of lighting on specific areas. I don’t think it would ever happen, but it would be nice.
They are actually talking about doing something like that…

I agree Yaqui, running that river at night is like trying to rhyme on time, it’s tricky!
