A documentary film about the access of women around the world to good education attracted so many Parker people Wednesday night that a second theater had to be opened to accommodate them all.
Girl Rising, which features the stories of 9 girls and young women around the world, is currently one of the top films in the nation, and is narrated by Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Salma Hayek, Alicia Keys, Meryl Streep and others.
The screening Wednesday night at BlueWater Cinemas in Parker was sponsored by Soroptimist International of Parker, Colorado River Indian Tribes Victims Advocate Program and the Colorado River Regional Crisis Shelter.
Almost 150 people were there to see the film, which emphasizes the importance of empowering women.
