Bureau of Reclamation to give presentation on river operations on the Parker Strip

La Paz County District 2 Supervisor Duce Minor has announced he will be hosting a community meeting regarding U.S. Bureau of Reclamation’s river operations.

Bureau of Reclamation Deputy Chief Mike Bernardo and River Operations Manager Noe Santos from the Boulder Canyon Operations Office, Interior Region 8: Lower Colorado Basin will be sharing a presentation on the operations of their department below Parker Dam, including the Parker Strip (Lake Moovalya). The presentation will also cover how recent drought conditions and hydropower generation needs have affected water releases. There will be an opportunity for questions after the presentation. The Bureau of Reclamation is a federal agency under the U.S. Department of the Interior and is responsible for water resource management, bringing water to more than 31 million people.

“I very much appreciate officials from the Bureau of Reclamation agreeing to come to Parker to share important information with our community, as well as address questions from community members,” Supervisor Minor said. “I encourage community members to attend.”

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 6 pm. The meeting will be held at the La Paz County Sheriff’s Boating and Safety Meeting Room located at 8484 Riverside Drive, Parker, Arizona. For more information, please contact District 2 Supervisor, Duce Minor at 928-669-6115.
